Our Vision is to be a Farm for all, inspiring people to make positive change to their lives and the environment.
Our Purpose is to sustain and develop a welcoming city farm that connects people of all ages and culture to food, animals and nature.
What we do
Spitalfields City Farm is the nearest city farm to the City of London’s square mile. Despite this, we are located in one of the most densely populated wards of Tower Hamlets. We work with a vibrant and multi-cultural community to provide educational opportunities for children and adults alike, to empower people to gain new skills, confidence, to combat social isolation.
Small yet ambitious, we accomplish a lot with a little, which is an even greater challenge at the moment, given the food poverty and cost of living crisis. Like many others, we are finding novel ways of being there for our community and continuing to raise necessary funds.

Our Strategy 2026-29
Our new strategy is the culmination of a period of consultation with our staff, volunteers and trustees during 2025, the purpose of which was to create a shared vision of how our city farm can better serve the local community, visitors and other stakeholders.

OUR HISTORY
We are the city farm that is nearest to the city’s square mile and sited on a former railway goods depot. The farm was started in 1978 in response to local people’s demand for allotments, having lost theirs to developers. With a long east end tradition of backyard farming, it wasn’t long before chickens, rabbits and geese appeared on the scene.
